Homeopathy is a system of medicine which was developed over 200 years
ago and continues to evolve to this day.
It is based on the notion of "likes curing likes" spoken of by Hippocrates
and practiced by 15th century alchemists such as Paracelsus.
Substances which might cause symptoms in a healthy person are used to cure
the same symptoms as experienced by a person who is ill.
One beauty of the system is the recognition of the individual. Over 3,000
remedies exist out of which only one will be chosen for the patient at one
time. The entire person is considered - physically, mentally, emotionally,
spiritually.
Another of its unique characteristics is its simplicity - only one remedy at
a time. There is no need for an array of pills, special diets, or diagnostic
procedures to be treated successfully homeopathically.
The remedies are largely made from plant or mineral sources. They have been
diluted and changed from their original form so that any toxicity has been
removed. |
